About
Our Story
Madras Garden Depot
launched in 2013, when landscaper / landscape designer Karen McCarthy moved from Reno, Nevada with a desire to serve a local community by providing nursery plants, grasses, and trees that were matched with the high desert climate, and proven to be water-wise in yards and landscapes in the Central Oregon area.
She continues to consult with Central Oregon clients, advising them in the ‘xeric way’ of tending and watering its landscapes.
Why visit Madras Garden Depot
You have many choices for planting and nurturing your home, yard & garden:
retail stores, plant shows, farm & home & garden stores, nurseries.
Here are some reasons to consider the Depot:
01
Expertly Curated Plants
We choose plants that will thrive in this local high desert region. In addition to carrying Plant Select® annuals & perennials, Karen makes selections from wholesalers that produce hardy plants. Florals & floral arrangements are also cultivated in the greenhouse at the Depot.
02
Confidence
Owner Karen McCarthy is knowledgeable in soil cultivation, landscape design, planting and wise water use in this xeric climate.
03
A Holistic Approach
Gardening in a high desert climate and changing climate conditions requires careful planning, from the soil on up. Staff at Madras Garden Depot can advise you on conditioning your soil for better water retention and plant performance, as well as companion plantings and care around the seasons.
